Learning Curve

Had such a hectic week. Was up doing presentation boards. Imagine 8.30am on weds day-5.30pm on thursday. No sleep . Had my good rest and was shaking when i got up due to an empty tummy. Well i guess thats what youll have to sacrifice to pursue your dreams. Presentation on my Arabian Night Boards.

This is how it worked ,Weds i had work all day so as soon as i got back home i had to get into them . Unlike some of my fellow mates they get to skip lecture and get the day off when they want. Being International Student isnt as easy as you think it is.:
-have to keep up with the attendance,if you dont then you will be sent home
-you pay for everything even tho you pay heapsss more then then the others -you get less attention by some lectures just coz they thing you dont know english!
-you dont have your support team with you ,like your family and contacts -getting places is not easy and looking for the equipment you need, you would have to research coz your not use to the routes.
-and heapsss more difficulties

But all difficulties makes you much stronger then the rest. You work extra harder and earn every praise there is on your own. This was what happened and why i decide to talk about this, because it was a struggle. The time came for presenting my boards to my clients. I was trying to sell it as much as i can.I wasnt confident at first until someone said be more confident and i just popped up saying my restaurant WILL this and that'. They started laughing and believed that it was going to be a great restaurant.

Then came the part for my board critics. Brought it up closer to my clients to have a better look and give me all the negative points. First said from the clients (lecturers, and mates) ,we are going to pick on your boards to make you better for the exhibition. My fav client praised me soo much and yet critic my boards the most. He said that *i have always done great boards to him *have always been hardworking and improve in every board i have done *he belives that i can do it and go far * knows that i can do so much better than this boards * thinks that i can try to explore more than just ordinary pieces *believes i can do this *new boards* on my own like i always have *he loved my concept and my ideas all the time and expected more My client has inspired me alot due to the reason that ,he is not like some other clients i have. not ra*ist and always treat everyone the same. Very straight forward and knows what your capabilities are. When he said that, one of my mates were shocked that he seemed to know what my standards were.
And they said he has always been nice to me and i should as for a recommendation letter for my interview in uni. Guess what? He is leaving uni and yesterday was his last day. After everything was said i have finally decided that i would do the Boards all over again.

The thing that upsets me is not doing it all over again is the amount of money spent on it for such a crappy job the printer has done.As my mum said ,duit boleh cari just do a great job . Selling my boards at that time i was not gonna say its the printer.Burt they realise that on their own that the printer in uni was not as good as they expected it. I will do them again coz i want to put it up for my exhibition. There are 4 boards we have done but 2 will get the chance to be posted. I want to put the restaurant up definitely .

Thats why i will do it again. I could have just chosen to take a different project but i guess this is all a learning curve and also to have a good portfolio for my interview. When you fail something just work harder for it. It makes you a better person. Take criticism as something to challenge yourself and never take it as something to put yourself down. My mates that had bad critics walk out the door and some were in tears yesterday just coz clients wanted more and better boards. This is only in here in uni not yet out there in the industry all this criticism is for our own good. You cant always win every client, you have to have your ups and downs.

Knowing that someone knows that i have improved and have higher expectations towards my work . Has got my never give up mode on. lol. I have my support team saying i could do better and also now more time to think over it not just a day. They said it just means my clients set a higher expectation then just ordinary boards. I hope thats right fingers cross. This is the boards i have done and some of the sketchup images. I wanna here more toughts on how i could improve:) Thanks
